Branding + Web Design
Summary Statement
I ideated branding and business development for my dad’s coffee roasting business, and designed a website for this potential business.

Project Overview
This project called for extensive brainstorming. Using design and business sense, ideation & aesthetic were concocted in a few specific stages:
1) The project started with outlining the goal:
“To craft a brand and website of which the client approves, while also moving forward with
strategic design and marketing.”
2) Research was necessary. I found the client had flexibilty, and wanted a Northern inspired brand. I researched potential competition and indicated the target audience.
3) The brand identity was then established. Based on my dad’s interest in the Northern Lights, I landed on Norrsken for a brand name, which is Swedish for "Northern Lights." The logo was developed based on a clean aesthetic, taking form of both Northern lights and the round figure of coffee beans. The earthy palette was inspired by colors found commonly in nature.
4) For website ideation, various thumbnails led to a simple, clean aesthetic. The page layouts and navigation would be simple. Desiring a unique homepage, I wanted movement of Northern lights in an embedded GIF. Mockups were then created and fine-tuned.
5) The website creation process was characterized by trial and error and website surfing assistance for the questions I had. Finding successes in other websites, I pulled pieces that I thought were best to create a final effective website.

Final Assets
The project ended with a simple business plan, brand identity- from naming the company to crafting a logo, and a functional website for use.
The logo was developed based on a clean aesthetic, taking form of both Northern lights and the round figure of coffee beans.
The mockups not only modeled the aesthetic, they also showed how the website would interact, from hover states to screen sizes. The Northern Lights behind the logo were also determined to be a moving GIF.
